We are a tiny little start up company with big plans for expansion. We have several part time, 1099 independent contractor gigs available. The majority of these roles are 5-10 hours per week. We intend to grow our team and eventually offer full time positions. Executive Assistant/ Office Manager

This is a combined clerical role. About half of this role can be done remotely, but the other half requires being present at our studio in Burlington. Example tasks include:

  • Sending out email blasts to ticket holders, RSVPs, etc. (remote)
  • Light accounting work - process business expense receipts, etc. (pick up receipts at Black Bird, and entering them into the spreadsheet can be done remotely)
  • Process membership applications (training provided by Black Bird for this task) (remote)
  • Schedule and execute zoom calls with membership applicants when necessary (this typically happens during weeknight evenings) (remote)
  • Prepare check-in spreadsheets before classes (remote)
  • Physically check-in students for classes (in Burlington)
  • Be present during rentals, and greet rental guests (photographers, etc.) (in Burlington)
  • Light studio cleaning (sweep, take out trash, etc.)
  • Set up/ break down of various events (in Burlington)
  • Answer customer questions via emails (remote)

Qualities that we look for in candidates:

  • Work history as an executive assistant, receptionist, paralegal, etc.
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Being on time for things
  • Understanding of email (BCC vs. CC, etc.)
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects, tasks, etc.

Growth for this position looks like:

  • Black Bird Atelier intends to expand and open multiple locations. We will need someone to manage the Burlington location, train staff to do their job as your own job expands, etc.

Graphic Designer/ Social Media Manager

Applicants must have experience and supply a portfolio of example works, and have working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop (Canva doesn’t count). Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro are desired but not required. This role is fully remote. Example tasks include:

  • Design class flyers and advertisements for social media (FetLife, Instagram, etc.)
  • Post images to Instagram and FetLife, according to our social media calendar and marketing plan
  • Trim and edit video
  • Black Bird Atelier provides Adobe subscription IF candidate can prove proficiency with the programs and does not already have their own (Ex: you learned these programs in school a few years ago, but only had the school subscription)

Qualities that we look for in candidates:

  • Work history in this role, or actively studying
  • Formal education in either design, marketing, or advertising
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop (Canva doesn’t count), Illustrator, InDesign, and optionally Premiere Pro
  • The ability to juggle multiple deadlines
  • Being on time for things
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Creativity and unique perspective
  • Optional: photography or videography knowledge

Class Instructor/ BDSM Coach

This role is mostly in-person at our studio in Burlington. Example tasks include:

  • Instruct classes ranging from 8-25 students, typically about 3 hrs long each (mostly occurring on Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, and Sunday afternoons)
  • Most classes are written by the studio owner, Raven, but an experienced instructor may pitch new class plans for consideration
  • Manage a variety of personality types within a group setting in a confident yet peaceful manner
  • Execute private coaching lessons, typically over Zoom, but occasionally in-person at the studio. Raven writes the lesson plans, but enjoys feedback and collaboration from skilled coaches. These topics are typically around helping someone navigate the kink scene, understand, and accept their personal kinks (different from therapy).
  • Topics for classes and coaching lessons include but are not limited to: social skills, dating advice, kink culture etiquette, soft skills, finding confidence

  • Socially savvy
  • Being on time for things
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding different learning styles
  • Formal education in teaching, psychology, sexology, soft skills, image consulting, etc.
